Learn to scull

Durham Amateur Rowing Club will soon be running ‘Learn to Row/Scull’ Programmes.

During the period when only single sculling has been allowed during Covid 19, the Club have been offering coaching sessions to club members, both ‘crew scullers’ and those rowers who would describe themselves as ‘non-scullers’. The training boat we have chosen to coach individuals in the single is the Glide One. This is a sturdy boat but also has a hull shape similar to a fine single so that when you are ready to make the transition into a fine single, it won’t feel that different.

Paul Godsafe – the designer of the Glide One

The number of sessions needed before transitioning into a ‘fine’ single will vary depending on your previous level of experience, and on how you progress.

As an example, see 5 session programme for ‘crew scullers’ and 10 session programme for non-scullers
